We are committed to meeting the local need for new homes with high quality properties in sustainable locations, and to lowering our carbon footprint and future proofing our housing.
Alliance Homes has recently been successful in securing funding from the Homes and Communities Agency to build 95 new homes in North Somerset. This bid was part of the Arcadia-led Key West Development Consortium and means that we can continue to address the high levels of need for affiordable housing in this region.
New homes are delivered either through our development partners Arcadia, other Housing Associations and developers, or directly by Alliance Homes. Schemes completed so far include Millenium Mews in Congresbury, Lewis Court in Worle and Moor Farm in Portbury. All new homes developed by Alliance Homes will meet the code of sustainable homes Level 4 or higher and be designed to either 'lifetime homes' or 'wheelchair access' standards.
Over the next few years we intend to meet the rising demand for affordable housing by investing in new sites and making better use of some of our own land. We will also continue to purchase new homes from developers and other Housing Associations. As a part of our development and refurbishment programmes we are testing new technologies such as airsource heat pumps and photovoltaic solar panels. How do I get one of the new homes?
New homes are let through HomeChoice.
Would living in a new home save me money?
New homes have high standards of insulation and modern heating systems, so almost certainly yes. However we are fitting high efficiency modern heating systems to all our properties and almost all are already double glazed and well insulated, so any Alliance Homes property should be efficient to run.
Would a new home be more secure?
New homes are built to ‘Secure by Design’ standards and schemes are designed to design out crime. Existing Alliance Homes properties have secure double glazed windows and 'Secure by Design' doors.
Why not build more new houses?
Currently we can afford to fund around 30 new homes a year.
Do you build houses for outright sale?
No. Alliance Homes develop only affordable housing.
Can I buy a shared ownership home?
At present we are not developing any shared ownership homes. If you are looking for shared ownership property South West Homes have details of properties available in the area.
If you have any queries about New Homes and how we develop them please contact Jon Hobbs.
