Alliance Homes' Step-Up Project offers a furnished flat to young people leaving care, providing the opportunity to gain intensive tenancy support and life skills for 13 weeks.
The aim of Step Up is to give a young person a realistic view of what it is like to be responsible for the up keep of a property and all the bills. Although this may sound a bit daunting a support worker will visit weekly to help the young person to establish a cleaning routine and budget for bills, so if difficulties arise they can assist without delay.
Towards the middle of the 13 week period a meeting will be held between the young person, the step up support caseworker and their leaving care advisor to discuss the progress and explore suitable 'move on' accommodation.
