Christmas money saving tips
Christmas can be a very expensive time of year and can add an extra pressure at a time which is supposed to be anything but hard.
We've come up with some money saving tips
- Plan ahead - You could get better deals and take advantage of discount shopping as well as spreading the cost. Don’t leave it to the last minute!
- Create a budget - Write a list of who you need to buy for and the amount you want to spend. It's easy to lose track of what you've already bought and overspend!
- Think outside the box - Maybe someone would like a coffee and a chat, a spot of babysitting or a night off from cooking. Everything has been different this year and a gift comes in many forms.
- Go homemade - Who doesn’t love a personal gift? Frame a child’s handprint, a message or a favourite photo or picture.
We've also got some sound advice from Westcountry Savings and Loans, our local credit union.
They have other money savings tips and also have a variety of money lending options that are a much better alternative to short term loans.
It's always better not to borrow, but if you have to, make sure it's from a responsible lender or you could be paying back more than you need to.
