National Apprenticeship Week 2019 - Megan's story

This week we’re supporting National Apprenticeship Week (4 to 8 March 2019).

This annual celebration of apprenticeships will bring the whole apprenticeship community together to celebrate the impact of apprenticeships on individuals and employers like us.

Customer Support Apprentice Megan Lee tells us what she's learned this year with us.

I applied for an apprenticeship with Alliance last year and since starting I’ve learned a lot about the housing sector.

“Day-to-day I take calls on the phone, take payments and support our customers in Weston-super-Mare. I help with the overall running of our iStation. I’ve learned how to work in a customer-facing setting and how to resolve challenges.

“I love my team and the support from my colleagues, and the fact we’re making a real difference to our customers’ lives. My biggest accomplishment was getting a ‘thank you’ from the police services, that meant a lot and grew my confidence massively.

“I don’t know which area in housing I want to work in just yet, but ever since I joined I’ve had a really good feeling about working at Alliance.

“To anyone else starting an apprenticeship, I’d tell them to prepare to work hard, take every opportunity you see, and be open to learning from others.”
