Repairs volume update

Repairs volume update.

Our repairs service has been experiencing very high demand and this has meant longer wait times for routine repairs than we would want. The safety and health of those in most need is always our priority, so we're still responding to emergency repairs within 24 hours and urgent repairs in less than seven days.

Increased demand

In the last year, our repairs service has seen significant and sustained demand increases. This increase in the number of repairs when combined with the higher demands for materials as well as repairs personnel, means that waiting times have increased. Our teams are working hard to complete as many repairs as we can each week, however we’re experiencing pressure on our services.

Due to the high volume of demand, if you have a repair concerning fences or blown windows, we have a couple of updates.

Fences: At present, we’re only replacing fences for boundaries between your home and non-Alliance properties, but not for fences that are between two Alliance properties.

Blown glass: Please contact us if you have a broken window, however, we’re currently unable to replace blown double glazing but will be happy to see if your windows are due to be replaced as part of our window replacement programme.

If you already have a planned fence or glass repair, these will proceed as planned.

How we’re tackling the increase in repair numbers

We're controlling this demand in a number of ways:

  • We’re working with suppliers to prioritise access to materials.
  • We’re recruiting new colleagues to our repairs team, particularly in high demand roles. If you or any one you know is interested, you can find our jobs on our Work for us pages.
  • We’re working with sub-contractors to complete repairs and free up our own team’s time.
  • We’re prioritising those repairs which pose a risk to our customers’ safety and health.

How can you help?

There’s a few things you can do to ease demand.

Before you book a repair, check if it’s something you can do. Our maintaining your home page has lots of tips for what to do when something goes wrong. You might also want to check our Which repairs should I do? page to see if your repair is classed as something that you'll need to do.

If you have an appointment booked for your repair, please ensure that you are at home and can let our teams in to carry out the work. If our colleagues are unable to enter a home to fix the repair, we will have to reschedule your appointment.
