Alliance Homes has secured two new developments that will deliver 69 much-needed affordable homes across North Somerset by 2027.
The first development, Phase 5b at Meadfields in Locking, marks the next stage in the transformation of the former RAF base in Weston-super-Mare. In partnership with Chippenham-based developer Backhouse Housing, Alliance Homes will deliver 11 new homes, including a mix of two- and three-bedroom houses, and a one-bedroom flat.
Construction is already underway, with completion expected between January and March next year. Homes will be available for both shared ownership and affordable rent.
The second development will be delivered through the brownfield regeneration of the former Oxford Instruments site in Yatton. The site was acquired with support from Homes England grant funding and will be developed in partnership with Woodstock Homes, a developer with a great relationship with Alliance Homes after having worked with the Alliance Homes on the Charlton Gate development in Brentry.
Plans for this site include 58 new homes, offering a mix of shared ownership and social rent. A planning application was recently submitted. Subject to approval, construction is anticipated to begin in spring or summer next year.
Alliance Homes New Business Manager, Helen Napierski, said: “These two new developments show our unwavering commitment to delivering the high-quality affordable homes that people and families across our communities desperately need. We’re on track to achieve our ambition of building 2,000 new homes by 2033, with nearly 800 already completed.”
