Some of our homes are part of schemes with bungalows, flats and self-contained bedsits that are restricted for older people. We have over 1,000-dedicated homes for older residents.

The age restrictions vary by scheme, with eligibility starting for people aged 50, 55 or 60.

  • Living in one of these schemes might be a good fit if you:
  • Prefer to have neighbours who are a similar age
  • Want to live in a smaller home which is easier to look after looking to stay independent with the reassurance of 24-hour emergency support and a helpline.

All our schemes offer self-contained accommodation, with each home featuring its own front door, kitchen, bathroom and living room.

  • Additional facilities vary by scheme, but many include:
  • street parking
  • communal gardens
  • laundry facilities
  • secure door entry systems.

Some sites also have access to communal rooms and mobility scooter stores.

We’ve got more information about mobility scooters here.

Our emergency helpline is provided by Somerset Lifeline, who offer round-the-clock support with trained response officers qualified in first aid and can quickly assess situations, contact emergency services, or notify your family, carer or doctor if needed.

For more information about the service, visit www.somersetlifeline.co.uk.
