North Somerset LGBT Forum boosted by Alliance Homes grant

13 Feb 202

Weston-super-Mare-based LGBTQ+ charity says grant funding from Alliance Homes has helped it continue supporting people across North Somerset at a time of growing demand.

North Somerset LGBT Forum received £4,934 through Alliance Homes’ Communities Together Grants. The funding has helped the Forum cover essential running costs and maintain its community hub and dedicated drop-in sessions. The grant was awarded by a panel of Alliance Homes customers.

Paul Doble, Chair of North Somerset LGBT Forum describes the centre as “a hub for the community, a welcoming and safe space for LGBTQ+ people here in Weston and from across North Somerset.”

He added that the grant has been “transformative,” saying:

“It’s helped us keep our doors open and respond to rising demand. More people than ever are coming to us for support and opportunities to connect with other people.”

The charity reports that 2025 has been one of their busiest years, with a significant increase in visitors looking for advice and an inclusive space to connect.

Service user, Xyla, shared: “The hub is my safe space. I get to meet people similar to me, make connections and have a fun time.”
