Cheaper bills, warmer homes - good for the planet

Our Warmer, Greener Living scheme is delivering improvements across our homes to make them warmer, more comfortable and affordable for our customers. In line with Government requirements and our sustainability strategy, we are working to ensure all our homes achieve Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C by 2030.

What is retrofit?

Retrofit is any improvement works to a building that improves its energy efficiency. By adding improvements to your home such as additional insulation we aim to reduce the amount of energy need to adequately heat your home. And because energy use is reduced, this will help reduce carbon emissions.

We’re working with our trusted energy partners, the Low Carbon Exchange (LCX), to install these upgrades which include the following types:

Insulation

Keep more of the heat inside your home with these three different types of insulation.

  • Loft insulation - Placed inside the loft.
  • Cavity wall insulation - Inside external walls.
  • External wall insulation - Applied to your outer walls and finished with a smart render.

2. Preparing your home

Before we can start installing insulation at your home, we will carry out essential repairs and alterations, this may include repairing brickwork, completing ground works, installing or upgrading ventilation and altering doors and windows.

This will require a number of visits over a few weeks.

3. Installation

LCX will notify you when your installation will begin. They will provide installation dates and an estimated date of completion.

Some works may take a day or two, larger installations such as cavity wall or external wall insulation may take three weeks or more. LCX will keep you informed.
