Aller Parade Food Pantry is open every Friday 1 – 3.30pm at our Oldmixon Community Hub, 7 Aller Parade, Oldmixon, Weston-super-Mare BS24 9DD.
The pantry is run with help from Fairshare SouthWest, our Growing Together gardening project, and local community members
The pantry helps you save money on your weekly food shop and also cuts down on food waste. What’s available changes each week, but you’ll usually find fresh fruit and vegetables, ready meals, dairy products, and other everyday items..
When you join, you get access to low-cost groceries that we bring in each week. To make sure everyone gets a fair share, there’s a limit on how many people can join. If it’s full, you might be added to a waiting list.
Here’s how it works
Every week the Pantry buys surplus and short dated food with money from grants, donations and members subs.
Membership cost £1 per year, and entitles you to a share of the food each week in exchange for £4.50 subs.
You can then choose 10 items of food each week for £4.50. This includes a share of fresh fruit, and veggies, fridge freezer and pantry item (1 token allows you as much fresh fruit and veg as you can use).
How to join the Food Pantry
To sign up, come to the Community Hub on a Friday and speak with someone from our Community Investment Team. They’ll explain how it works and help you become a member.
Alternatively, you can email communityhubs@alliancehomes.org.uk or call us on 03000 120 120.
Membership is for people who live in Oldmixon or the wider South Ward, including Bournville and Coronation.
