How new homes are allocated

When new homes are built they are usually a mix of homes available for social rent, affordable rent or for shared ownership, the exact mix is different for each development.

Affordable rent and social rent homes are advertised through a local authority and their choice-based lettings system. You can find out more about that process here.

Our new shared ownership properties are available through our sales website. Shared ownership homes are available according to certain criteria, you can find out more about those criteria here. With some developments, the local authority may have applied additional criteria which mean that only people with a local connection can apply to buy shared ownership homes there, in those cases the criteria is shown on the relevant web pages.
