What is STAIRs?
STAIRs (Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements) is a new government scheme that gives people living in social housing better access to information about their landlord.
It is designed to make housing associations more open and transparent, so you can easily understand how your home is managed, how decisions are made, and how we are performing. Read the Government's STAIRs guidance here.
STAIRs is being introduced in two stages.
From October 2026 – publishing information
We will publish a wide range of information on our website in a clear and easy‑to‑find way. This will include areas such as:
- How we are governed and make decisions
- How we manage homes and services
- How we spend money
- How we are performing.
From April 2027 – requesting information
You will be able to ask us for specific information about how we operate. This will work in a similar way to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, which already applies to councils and other public bodies.
The key difference is that this right will apply to our customers, and we will respond within set timescales. The aim is to improve transparency, giving customers the information they need to better understand their landlord's decisions and hold them to account.
Find information about how we work
Much of the information required by STAIRs is already available on our website. We are bringing it together on this page, so you can find what you need quickly and easily.
