Carers are people from all walks of life who provide unpaid care and support to a relative, friend or neighbour who can’t manage without their help.

North Somerset Carers Support, delivered by Alliance Homes, is funded by North Somerset Council and North Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group. We work with carers from aged 5 - 90+, and have dedicated services for adults and young carers.

The service is available to all unpaid carers in North Somerset, you don't need to be an Alliance Homes customer to access our help.

Who is a carer?

Most carers don’t label themselves ‘carers’ – they’re husbands, wives, sons, daughters or friends that do what they can to help someone who’s struggling.

It’s very common for people with caring responsibilities to neglect their own needs to prioritise the needs of who they care for. If this sounds like you.

If you feel like you need help, you can complete a carer's assessment from North Somerset Council.

All unpaid carers are entitled to a Carers Assessment, our team conduct assessments for Young carers, if you are over 18 these are conducted by North Somerset Council.

Carers Handbook

In partnership with North Somerset Carers Partnership Board, led by North Somerset Council, we've contributed to three helpful handbooks for carers in our community.

Whether you're an adult carer, young carer or a parent carer supporting a child or young person with additional needs, these handbooks include useful information, advice and signposting to support you in your caring role and look after your wellbeing.
